Take a breather : preview on my favourite coffee places in Melbourne
Well occupied with work (uni assignments) and taking a lazy breather during those free times. Whenever there is time- I'd catch up with friends over a cup of coffee (moccha or chai. not a pure coffee kinda person) or brunch. Here is a preview about my favourite coffee places/ brunch spots in Melbourne. Those from around here would immediately recognise them! Upcoming posts on more soon =)

Haircare : Frizz control
To all of you out there with fine + thin + frizzy hair, I understand your dilemma!
Not to fret, for there are ways to overcome frizz control and finally achieve a step closer to that polished hair you've always dreamed.
The secrets are in these steps :
1. Wash your hair with cold water
2. Use moisturizing conditioner
3. Towel dry and leave for 10min
4. Spray with moisturizing detangler
5. Apply serum
6. Blow dry with cool air first, followed by low heat. Cool air locks moisture and fights frizz, hot air gives the volume and texture.
7. Finish with a light oil finishing treatment for extra shine!
I'm currently using NAK colour fix serum, schwarzkopf moisture kick spray conditioner and schwarzkopf oil miracle light finishing treatment .
I've recently started using schwarzkopf oil miracle light finishing treatment , and am in love with the seductive shine and perfume scent it leaves in my locks !
Below are comparison pictures of before and after applying these steps. Notice the difference?

Top 20 Food Treasures
1. Meng Kee Char Siew Restaurant (here)
It's to find such amazingly marinated char siew and siew yoke in the city. This place is the place to go. The taste hits the right balance in your taste buds with a hint of nostalgia! Only the classic food hideouts run by the talented chefs can achieve standards of our grandparent's time.
Their steamed chicken has a special topping that completes it. The texture is always smooth, pleasant and great with rice. On top of that, try their addictive pig stomach soup! Its zing and porky taste will warm you up instantly.
3. Ah Koong (here)
Flavorful soup and abundance in ingredients. The basic price already gives you ingredients on which you can add on yourself. Their soya bean and fried fishcake is a classic as well!
4.G Yi-Tang (48, Jalan USJ 10/1B)
Hong Kong dim sum indeed! The dim sum here is quite good for the affordable price but the siew long bao (picture : served in spoons) is top notch to me because of its concentrated broth.

Known for its appetizing, organic and purely vegetarian food! There are so much quantity as well as quality. You'd be surprise how addictive (despite healthy and slimming) vegetarian organic food can be. My favorite in the menu is the mamee bitter gourd (i'm not a fan of bitter guord but this is a major exception. its fried in batter, drizzled with honey and sesame) and mushroom pizza (note : yummy potato puree instead of cheese as topping)
Its customary to gain back your calories in this mamak after a challenging hike in Bukit Gasing nearby. The roti canai is famous with the right amount of fluff. I especially like their white coconut sauce (not sure of its name) which isn't too common in most mamaks.

A cosy German diner which has been around for about 2 decades, the food doesn't fail to disappoint. Although the menu has been consistent for years with barely any changes, it remains a favourite among locals. Their grilled chicken and seafood is their trademark. I always come for their perfectly
grilled salmon dressed in well balanced herbs.
8.Journal by Plan B (Publika)
If you miss Melbourne standard brunch/meals, this is the place to go =). Its cosy and artistic interior gives you a romantic setting with P. Ramlee black and white films projected on the wall.

9. Betty's Midwest Kitchen (here)
For those who are hungry for some greasy, addictive American food. Their specialties here include Juicy Lucy, lemonade and DOGFOOD. Don't worry, its not fear factor. Just chunky fries served with a secret gravy and melted cheese ... a must try! This dish doesn't disappoint, but unfortunately the others and the slow service might from time to time.
Innovative version of fish and chips! The batter is good, fish well cooked and the twist lies in the filling within the fish that represents a taste of different countries. I tried Italian, where it has mozzarella cheese filling within the fish. Delicious.
11.Snowflake (here)
The original Snowflake store is still of best quality! This particular store in the Snowflake franchise serves my favourite Taiwanese desserts because of its consistently shaved ice, quality taro balls and balance of sweetness. Its all about the balance. Other than the original flavoured ice, try the coconut or green tea flavoured!
12.CZC Bubble Tea Supplier (here)
What better place to get bubble tea than from a supplier. Their servings are generous in flavor and ingredients as compared to other outlets. The pearl bubbles are also yummy to me, with an appropriate chewy texture and faint taste. Ultimately, my favorite is the Oreo series, especially the Oreo Mocha. I may be exaggerating here, but it tastes like Starbucks for one third the price.
13.RT Pastry House (here)
Japanese bakeries always produce good pastries. Try their famous European blueberry cheesecake, bread (!) and swiss roll.
A rivalry to RT Pastry, Bread Tarts push for a Malaysian bakery flavor. Their trademark is their egg tarts with a trademark glazing which makes it taste different from other egg tarts.
15. Chop Chung Wah (here)
Malacca's trademark chicken rice balls. Their chicken rice is served in a ball form, coupled with tender tasting chicken. A rather homemade flavor to the tastebuds.
Satay celup! Each stick only cause 90cents (Malaysian sen!) despite it being prawn or vegetable. Say whut?
17.Jonker 88 (here)
Famous for its laksa and durian cendol. I love how its interior tucks you away in a charming Malacca courtyard atmosphere.

18.Taste Better Café (jonker st.)
Two words : DURIAN CREAMPUFFS! It is meant to be eaten in one bite, as the durian filling bursts out when bit. Heavenly.
19.Nadeje Cake Shop (here)
Not your typical cake dessert. I am uber thankful for the creation of Mille Cake Crepe. Its just gorgeous. Layers of milli thick crepe stacked with cream of your flavor choice. Melts in your mouth with a hint of crepe texture! My favourite flavors are tiramisu, original and cheese.
Nothing like famous kampong nasi lemak drenched in kuah. The beef rending is especially delicious. The grainy texture of the rice soaks up the kuah to create an addictive taste!
That's it for the my favourite top 20. Do try if you haven't, and do share with me the greater food treasures out there! Now, for a time of dieting.
Sincerely,
Tracy Wish
