DIY Hair Mask

First attempt in a homemade hair mask! Had some avocados left in the kitchen and an article on homemade hair mask recipes that's been nagging in my mind for sometime.

With all the fuss in improving the hair appearance - in addition to a daily hair care routine many ladies use a weekly treatment mask as well. This avocado hair mask aims to smoothen out brittle ends and add an extra silky shine to your precious locks. Avocados complimented with olive oil and an egg yolk all contain fatty acids that forms a natural conditioner to increase shine.

Convinced to try yet? Here it goes

1. Ingredients :
1 avocado
1tbsp olive oil
1 egg yolk

2. To make :
combine avocado, egg yolk and olive oil.

2. To make :
mash well to get a creamy paste

3. Apply :
Damp hair ( opens hair cuticles to absorb conditioner better). Apply the gross green paste! Go Shrek.

3. Finish off :
Leave for 20 minutes. Wash hair with shampoo and conditioner like normal.

The final results were pretty alright. Split ends did fall off my hair when the avocado was applied unto it! This hair mask does remove part of your split ends - interesting.

After washing it off, my hair felt slightly silkier - though not as silky as I'd expect it to be. I can't say if it improves the hair shine drastically unless it is done weekly and results are observed in the long run.On the plus side though, adding honey to the hair mask makes it a soothing hand mask and even after a day, I still feel the moisture in my hands. Do you have avocados lingering around?

Disclaimer : Results vary depending on hairtype and skintype.

Sincerely,

Tracy Wish
