Manicure Secrets

Oh hey there lovely nails. You sure grew long during the holidays.

One thing my girl friends know about me is I can never paint my nails properly to even save my life! The coat never seems to be even. Often I wait for an hour to dry before going to bed, only to wake up with smudged nailpolish again.

When my former classmate visited Melbourne in 2012, the very first thing she did was grab my fingers to analyse my nailpolish, throw her head back and laugh. (good times!) This year being 2013, my goal is to master (or at least decently master) the art of painting nails!

I received Nicki Minaj minis for my birthday last year and started experimenting around with it. Suddenly, a revelation dawned upon me.

# Tip 1
If you can't seem to paint your nails properly (like me), start by using transparent polish. A thin coat will never go wrong! Something about transparency that conceals imperfect coating, still making your nails look polished. After all, better to have no polish than to have amateur painted ones (quotes from a perfectionist?)

# Tip 2
A little sparkle goes a long way - especially for this new year season. I tried a twisted version of the French manicure style, by adding O.P.I Metallic 4 Life on my Distal Edge. This sparkly color is aplenty in glitter and confetti-like surprises, needing only one to two coats at most. It lasts pretty long as well (more than a week), proving difficult to remove with nailpolish remover! The best thing is, its reflective properties conceal imperfect coating as well!

The result is a simple yet creative look that is only visible upclose and personal. Some beauty in this style that I like to wear. How do you like your nails?

Sincerely,

Tracy Wish
